Visit from NDR "What is a geek?"

Under the title "What is a geek", a visit was made yesterday evening to the Schleswig-Holstein Magazine broadcast a short report about getDigital. In it, one of our bosses, Philipp, tries to explain our humor to ordinary people on the streets of Kiel. With more or less success. :D The TV team's visit had been planned since the beginning of the year, but we weren't able to prepare properly as the appointment was made at very short notice. On the day of filming, Philipp and I drove to Holtenauer Straße, a small shopping street in Kiel, armed with gadgets and dressed in matching shirts. The film crew, consisting of a young editor, an old hand behind the camera and a tanned sound recordist, were waiting for us in the sunshine in front of a café. After a brief discussion and clarification from the editor that the "Pacmaker" is actually called "Pacman" and the realization that the film Robocop was made in the year he was born, we stormed out onto uninformed passers-by in order to surprise them with the Pacman money boxthe RoboCup and the Little phi also makes muck-motif to convert people to Geektum.

After Holtenauer Straße, we went to the busy Holstenstraße, the main shopping street in Kiel, to shoot the "walk backwards" sequence. Um, yes, it's not entirely clear in the video what exactly was being attempted here, so here's our attempt to explain: Philipp walks forwards while everyone else walks backwards, which is supposed to explain his "geekiness". Unfortunately, he looks a bit cramped. ^^ But it's a good thing that the moment when Philipp almost runs into the traffic lights was cut out. :D Fortunately, he survived unscathed, as the whole team behind the camera showed him the way through the people by waving their arms. The blue line on the floor also helped him navigate, of course. (It's exciting to see how a gentleman in the background tries to hide his face with a plastic bag, thanks to the editing in the clip over and over again :D)

Around midday we continued filming in our offices and warehouse. After a coffee break and another new insight from Robert, the editor, this time about the "little green dwarf", various shots were taken in the executive office, the conference room, the warehouse and the redesigned recreation room. Of course, everything corresponds exactly to our normal work processes - especially the busy packing of boxes by Jan and Christopher (who shows himself to be a multi-talented programmer and warehouse employee) ;)

You can see the whole clip (2:53 min) here:

Florian Schatz, our other boss, is the only one who is a little sad, as he is unfortunately not mentioned in the article. But that's what happens when you're on vacation, you just get forgotten ;) And another small correction: of course the getDigital team doesn't just consist of the two bosses. All of us here contribute our creativity and manpower to the development of getDigital. (By the way, I'll explain who exactly "we" are in more detail in upcoming blog posts ;) We have a few new additions that you really need to get to know).

Dear Robert, if you ever have any questions about geek and nerd topics, feel free to drop by again. You still have a lot to learn, young Padawan ;)
We had a lot of fun on the shooting day and we are very happy about this contribution! A big THANK YOU to the film team and especially to Robert.
